Homemade Mini Pizza Bites–a Toddler Favorite!

02/28/17 | Recipes, Toddler Meals

Toddlers. Mysterious beasts who want what they want when they want it. What is it they want? They don’t know. I don’t know. Crying on both sides ensues. Ok, so it’s not always that dramatic, but for real, when it comes to feeding toddlers, hit or miss just doesn’t quite capture how difficult it can be. BUT you can generally find a few sure fire winners that’ll be eaten with a smile every time. Enter mini pizza bites. From the moment Roman first tasted pizza, he was in love. But since you want every bite you can get into a toddler to be as nutritious as possible, the take-out and frozen varieties weren’t super appealing to me. With only four inexpensive ingredients, I came up with a quick, mini homemade pizza that is healthier and still super delicious. If I can help even one parent get something besides goldfish crackers and chicken nuggets down their kid, I will take that as a success!

Of course, you can use whichever brands you prefer, but with the brands pictured, here’s the nutritional info:

  • Multi grain mini buns: non GMO, whole grain, NO artificial preservatives
  • No SOY (since we’re still outgrowing an intolerance)
  • Estimated nutritional info. for four mini pizzas:
    • Potassium 3%
    • Fiber 11%
    • Sugar 3g
    • Protein 13g
    • Vitamin A 9%
    • Vitamin C 3%
    • Calcium 30%
    • Iron 11%
    • Thiamin 12%
    • Niacin 8%
    • Phosphorous 12%
    • Zinc 8%
    • Riboflavin 8%
    • Folate 4%
    • Magnesium 8%

And here’s all you do to make them:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 370 degrees

Step 2: Layer sauce, cheese, and pepperonis (or toppings of your choice) on mini buns

Step 3: Bake for 5-7 minutes, let cool, and devour!

Happy lunchtime, and may the odds be ever in your favor 😉
